Littering – whether it’s cigarette butts, chewing gum, or fast food packaging – is a global problem. Waste in the environment affects society as a whole. Unfortunately, not all smokers dispose of their cigarette waste carefully and properly in waste bins when they are out and about. Behind thoughtless littering often lie a lack of awareness of the resulting environmental pollution and the violation of regulations, or simply the absence of disposal options. An individual discarded cigarette may seem insignificant, but collectively, cigarette litter is among the most commonly discarded items in the world – and it becomes a problem.
